The Cereus jamacaru 'Spiralis' requires little maintenance, but it does have specific care requirements. Like all cacti, it needs well-draining soil and should be kept in direct sunlight. The plant needs to be watered moderately, only when the top layer of soil is dry. Over-watering can cause rot and ultimately the death of the plant. During the winter, watering needs to be significantly reduced and the plant should be kept in a cool, dry place for overwintering.
